Better Markets Urges FSOC to Review Critical Market Structure and Market Integrity Issues

On Feb. 3, 2021, Better Markets wrote to the Treasury Secretary and certain members of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) to support their decision to review and address market integrity and regulatory issues raised by the frenzied trading in GameStop and other equities. We encourage FSOC to thoroughly investigate numerous issues, including  the role of hedge funds, short sellers, coordinated retail traders, and other market participants involved in the recent events and the fragmented and often predatory financial ecosystem that enables disruptive and potentially dangerous trading activities.
